Obituary

Louis "Louie" Anthony Antonelli, 84, was called to be with the Lord at 8:50 p.m. at the Center for Hospice, Elkhart on July 24. Louie was born in Elkhart on September 28, 1926 to the late Nicholas Lee and Concetta Ianigro Antonelli. A graduate of Elkhart High School, he married his wife of 59 years, Lois Jean Stickel, on June 25, 1952 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Louie was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Lois, and five children, Kathy Bob Bevilhymer, South Bend; Nick Cindy, South Bend; Donna Chuck Girten, Elkhart; Sherry Derek Hubartt, Elkhart; and Alex Jocie, Granger, and five grandchildren, Angie and Ben Girten, Lennie, A.J. and Rosemary Antonelli. Louie also is survived by one brother, Leonard Hilde, Elkhart; and three sisters, Josephine Signorino, South Bend; Sanita Remo Giannini and Marg Jack Stoller, both of Albuquerque, NM.Louie was preceded in death by his sister Carm Nelund. A member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Louie worked at Studebaker's, was a barber and retired from Miles Laboratories in 1986. Louie had a wonderful garden each year, liked to golf and camp, was a Notre Dame fan, and enjoyed spending a few months each winter in Sebring, FL. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball, basketball and other sports. Louie served with the US Army in the Philippines during WWII. He also served in the Merchant Marines. Friends may call Thursday July 28, 2011 from 9:30 till 10:30 am when the funeral services will start at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Father Bill Sullivan will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Vincent's Cemetery, Nappanee Street, Elkhart. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, Elkhart is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Center for Hospice, Elkhart.
