Lucille J. "Lou" (Cappelletti) Kilgren, 88, of Elkhart died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at home. Lucille was born on February 23, 1927 in Elkhart to Dominic and Marietta Cappelletti. On November 24, 1949 she married Frank G. "Pete" Kilgren in Elkhart. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2003. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Joann Cappelletti and one brother, Francis Cappelletti. Lucille is survived by daughters, Linda Anderson (Merle), and Lori Danis (Michael) both of Edwardsburg; sons, Frank A. Kilgren, Don Kilgren, and Joe Kilgren (Sara), all of Elkhart; six grandchildren: Eric, Kelly, Chad, Tiffany, Justin, and Sydney; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Matthew Cappelletti, Potstown, PA and Dr. Richard Cappelletti (Betsy), Naples FL, and a sister-in-law, Tina Cappelletti, Elkhart. Lucille was a lifetime resident of Elkhart and graduated from Elkhart High School in 1945. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Pete's Simonton Lake since 1970. Lucille was a caring and loving woman, valued her family, and fed everyone that came to her house, regardless of whether or not they were hungry. She shared her love of others easily with food and an always present and beautiful smile and warm hugs. Friends may call from 2 pm until 6 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Jason Freiburger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
