Margaret B. Owens passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart, Indiana at the age of 92. Her friends and family affectionately called her Peg.  She was born in Elkhart on June 28, 1931. Peg was preceded in death by her mother Gertrude Hoffman and father Julius Hoffman, her husband Gordon (Gordy), sister Marilyn Young, and her eldest son, Michael Owens.

Friends and family of Peg may call from 10 AM to 12 noon Saturday October 28, 2023 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. The service will be held immediately after, followed by the burial at Rice Cemetery.

Peg and Gordy were married on April 8, 1951 and raised four sons. They include Michael (deceased), Stephen (Tia) of Dripping Springs, Texas, Patrick (Carolyn) of Beaufort, South

Carolina, and Andrew (Lynn) of Port Charlotte, Florida. Peg leaves 12 grandchildren: Paige Wilks (Jesse), Blair Kuecker (Clifton), Clark, Harrison, Wesley, Luke, Ben, Harper, Amy McNamara (Joe), Emily Iantosca (Dave), Andrew Julius (A.J.), Alexander and 8 great-grandchildren: Lillie Wilks, Noah Wilks, Henry Kuecker, Jace McNamara, Hudson McNamara, Maverick McNamara, Isla Iantosca, Evelina Iantosca.

Peg was well known in the community as an avid baker. Her specialty was her delicious pies,  but she was also known for her cookies, cakes, and jams. Peg was very creative and used her creativity as a floral designer with Westview Florist for many years.  She was active in the Elkhart Four Arts Club and was president from 1993 to 1994. Peg was a talented painter and especially enjoyed painting landscapes and flowers.  Peg enjoyed golf and looked forward to her weekly outing at Old Orchard Golf Course and The Christiana Creek Country Club. She was also an active volunteer at Trinity United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
