Goshen, Ind. Margaret F. Lehman, 99, died at 6:15 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Greencroft Health Care, Goshen, IN. She was born March 7, 1918 in Columbiana, Ohio, to Emanuel J. and Maggie F. Swope. On June 10, 1944, she married John E. Lehman of North Lima, Ohio.

She is survived by Thomas (Mary) of South Bend, Ind., Mary Ann Wieand (Jon) of Goshen, Ind., Rebecca Gascho (Luke) of Goshen, Ind., and David (Bonnie), of Mechanicsville, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, to whom she was married for 70 years; nine brothers, Ira, John, Oliver, Herman, Joseph, Paul, Emanuel, Roy, and Cleo; and two sisters, Mary Steiner and Nannie Lehman.

Mrs. Lehman was an elementary school teacher for eight years at North Lima School in North Lima, Ohio, and for 14 years at Monger School in Elkhart, Ind. She served with John for two years in Ethiopia and six years in Puerto Rico, under the Mennonite Church.

She was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church in Elkhart, Ind. for many years, where she had taught Sunday and Bible School.

She was a 1944 graduate of Goshen College and was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and the National Retired Teachers Association.

Viewing will be on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Metzler Meeting House, 1225 Greencroft Dr., Goshen, Ind. The funeral will follow at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Prairie Street Mennonite Church or Mennonite Mission Network.

Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart, IN.

Her care has been entrusted to Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.
