Marquita J. Allen, 80, of Elkhart, went to her eternal reward on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the home of her daughter, Deborah.  She was born on December 7, 1938 in Elkhart to Russell and Juanita (Glover) Gamble.  She married Lonnie B. Allen Sr. who preceded her in death in 1995.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lonnie B. Allen, Jr, Cheryle Brown (Hubert), Rochelle Allen, Deborah Smith (Johnny), and Kimberly Levy (Tobias), all of Elkhart, Step Children, Larry Warden, Waycross, GA and Mary Louise Jones (Wilbur), Aurora, IL, Brothers, Arthur Gamble (Carrie), Everett Gamble, Sisters, Charita Howard (Rufus), Gloria Hudspeth, Margaret Gamble, all of California, 15 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, Sister in Law, Patricia Allen, Elkhart, and her special friend as well as long time beautician, Denise Gary of Elkhart.  Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Marquita was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie, Daughter, Sheila Allen, Step-son, Eddie Fields, Step-daughter Carol Williams, Brothers, Walter and Roland Gamble, Sr, and Sister Chandria Gamble.

She is a member of Servants of the Street Church and a prior member of Grace Temple.  She was a very fashionable lady who loved playing Sudoko, working puzzles, and tending to her flower garden.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 25th from 11 a.m. until noon at the New Beginnings United Worship Center 1527 Belmont Avenue in Elkhart.  A Homegoing Celebration will begin immediately following visitation at noon, also at the church.  Pastor Greg Gary will officiate and private family burial will take place at a later date.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
