Mary Lucchese passed from this life at 4:35 AM on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Greenleaf Health Campus.
Known as “Aunt Mary” to 152 nieces and nephews from 3 generations, she cherished each one.
She was born November 30, 1929, in Elkhart to the late Frank “Cheech” and Marie Grace “Iucch” (Turzo) Lucchese. Also preceding her in death are a sister, Josephine “Jo” Dibley and her husband Michael Dibley a brother Frank and his wife Kay, and brothers John and Leonard.
Mary never married and she devoted herself to her church, her family and her friends. She was honored and cherished as the beloved matriarch of the family.
She is survived by 2 brothers and their wives Tony (Lin) Lucchese of Las Vegas, NV and Ralph (Shelley) Lucchese of Elkhart and 2 sisters-in-law Kathy Lucchese and Arlene Lucchese, both of Elkhart
She served as a legal secretary at C. G. Conn for 20 years and 20 years at Miles (Bayer). After retirement, she volunteered at St. Vincent’s School and Church where she delighted in every child she met. Her kindness, strong faith, sense of humor and generosity marked her as a favorite at Hubbard Hill and Greenleaf Health Campus where she resided these last 2 ½ years. The family is grateful for the care they gave her. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Mary will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Friends may also call from 10 am until the hour of the service at 11 am on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. The Rev. Craig Borchard will officiate and burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery.
Donations may be given to St. Vincent Catholic Church, ADEC, or St. Jude’s.
