Michael S. Lerch, 78, of Elkhart, died Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Raclin Center for Hospice in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was born on August 18, 1948, in Elkhart to William A. and Margretta E. (Whitbeck) Lerch. He married Karen Moss in 1983 and she survives.

He served as the maintenance and grounds superintendent at Bashor Children’s Home in Goshen, Indiana for many years.

Michael proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Osceola American #308, a lifetime member of the D.A.V., and an antique car enthusiast.

In addition to his wife Karen, Michael is survived by his son, Randy Lerch, and sisters, Valerie Ambrose and Linda Wierich. He was preceded in death by his brother James Lerch.

According to his wishes, there will be no services. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
