Norma J. Short, 90, of Elkhart died Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital due to complications from COVID-19.

Norma was born on September 16, 1930 in Kokomo, Indiana. She was the daughter of Samuel and Dolly (Rosa) Jumper. She married James H. Short on April 12, 1952, he preceded her in death in 1994.

Norma was a homemaker most of her life raising her six children one of which had cerebral palsy. She always had David with her caring for him for 60 years all the way till her last hour of life. She was a very dedicated care giver to him and did everything in her power to see that he was taken care of. She was also a grandma, great grandma and great-great grandma to many who loved her.

Norma is survived by her sons, Richard Burke of Laferia, TX; Gregory Short of Laferia, TX; Jeffery Short of Elkhart; David Short of Elkhart; and Daughters, Sherry (James) Rodino of Elkhart and Julie (Scott) Pierce of Elkhart. Norma is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Bowe, Dorinda (Dick) Walker; Judy (Bob) Perry and Anita (Bobby) Miles. She is also survived by her brothers, Dave (Jan) Heilman; Lowell (Dianne) Evans and several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband James, her brothers Samuel Jumper and Johnny Brooker, and her sister Phyliss Accorn.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 2pm at Olive Cemetery in Elkhart with Pastor Greg Serafino officiating.
