Norma Jean
(Smith) Wisolek
July 23, 1928 – April 20, 2023
Norma Jean Wisolek, 94, of Elkhart, died Thursday April 20, 2023 at Brickyard Health Care in Elkhart. Norma was born July 23, 1928 in Elkhart, to the late Charles E. and Ruth E. (Williams) Smith.
She married Carl P. Wisolek on August 19, 1951 in Elkhart. Carl passed away on February 23, 1980. Norma is also preceded in death by her brother, Ralph E. Smith.
She is survived by her children John Wisolek of Cape Coral, Florida, Ruth Ann (Randy) Snyder of Goshen and her daughter-in-law Jenny Wisolek of Elkhart. Norma is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with another great grandchild on the way.
Norma graduated from Elkhart High School in 1947. From 1971-1978 Norma was the owner/operator of Weldy's Paint Store in Nappanee. Later in life she worked at Cracker Barrel in Elkhart part time and even received the Employee of the Year award. For many years Norma was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart. In her free time, Norma enjoyed knitting, reading, and spending time with family. Norma is also one of the longest receiving pension recipients in the city of Elkhart for around 85 years after losing both her father and later her husband while they both were employed for the Fire Department.
A visitation for Norma will take place on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 11AM-1PM at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart. A service for Norma will follow at 1PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Rice Cemetery.
