Obituary

Norman R. Carlson, 90, of Elkhart, died on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital. Norman was born in Elkhart on January 3, 1933, to the late Ivan and Lillian (Brumbaugh) Carlson.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kent Carlson and two sisters, Donna Johnson and Janis Torres.

He is survived by two daughters: Laura Horning of Ada, OK and Jennifer (Gene) Kindle of Elkhart; two sons: Mark (Sandra) Carlson and David Carlson, both of Elkhart; six grandchildren: Alicia Polsean, Tia Russell, Steve Torok, Danielle White, Cassandra Hardman and Joshua Kindle; sixteen great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Gudrun Carlson of Indianapolis.

Norman was employed by Imperial Fabrics as the manager from 1975 until his retirement in 1994.  He was a 1950 graduate of Elkhart High School and also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He enjoyed construction, remodeling, guns and riding motorcycles.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3rd from 1:00 pm until the hour of the memorial service at 2:00 pm, all at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Military honors will be rendered by representatives of the United States Air Force and the Elkhart Veterans Honor Guard.
