Rita Ann (Ianigro) Blessing, 79, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart.

She was born on November 19, 1937 in Elkhart to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Nadolny) Ianigro.  Also preceding her in death was a brother, James Ianigro and husband, David Melkus and Thomas Blessing.

Rita is survived by her three sons, Steven (Kathy) Melkus, Anthony (Anne) Melkus and Paul (Tonya) Melkus; six grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her brother, Paul (Tracy) Ianigro, a sister, Mary (Pat) Buday Carr and a dear friend, William Monger.

Proud of her Italian heritage, Rita enjoyed her family and friends from the close-knit neighborhood around her childhood home on Marion Street in Elkhart.  She enjoyed reading, music and spending time with her family and friends.  We will all miss her dearly.

Visitation for Rita will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm on Wednesday, September 6th, 2017 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will be held immediately following visitation at 6:00 p.m.  Private family burial will be held in St. Vincent Cemetery, Elkhart.
