Shirley A. Bramley, 88, of Redford Township, MI, formerly of Elkhart, went home to be with Yeshua on Monday, June 8, 2026, at home.

Born May 9, 1938, in St. Louis, MO to the late Edgar C. and Jessie (Browder) Newsome, Shirley lived a life full of kindness, grace and unwavering devotion. She dedicated her time on Earth to improving the lives of others, constantly praising and teaching the word of the Almighty. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Shirley has been reunited in glory with her beloved husband, Mitchell Bramley Sr. and her cherished son, Clarence “Lay Lay” Bramley. In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by five sisters: Bertha McAfee, Louise Ursery, Ruth Bramley, Dorothy Suggs and Myrean Blakely and seven brothers: Clarence Newsome, David Newsome, Wilbert Newsome, Edgard Nathaniel Newsome, Willie “Billy” Newsome, Curtis Newsome, Delmer Newsome and Oliver “Big O” Newsome.

Shirley is survived by a daughter, with whom she lived, Sherrill Bramley of Redford Township, MI; two sons, Mitchell Bramley Jr. of South Bend and William Bramley, also of Redford Township, MI; three grandchildren, Matthew Bramley, Troy Jones and Lanaya Rollins; seven great grandchildren, Troyvair Jones, Troy’Juan Jones, Khailne Jones, Taylor Bramley, Tristan Bramley, McKenzy Bramley and Matthew Bramley Jr. She is also survived by one sister, Martha Webb of Elkhart and one brother, Noland Newsome of South Bend.

Shirley was employed by Elkhart General Hospital for many years in guest services.

Visitation for Shirley will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12 pm until 1:00 pm at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Rice Cemetery in the Chapel of Hope Mausoleum at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Preston Kneeland will officiate. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
