Mother Shirley Ann Newsome Bramley, age 88, of Redford Township, Michigan, formerly of Elkhart, Indiana, went home to be with Yahshua on Monday, June 8, 2026.

She was born on May 9, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Edgar Clarence and Jessie (Browder) Newsome. Shirley lived a life full of kindness, grace, and unwavering devotion. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was known for praising and teaching the word of the Almighty.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mitchell Bramley, Sr.; her cherished son, Clarence "Lay Lay" Bramley; and a special friend, Odis Odey Davis. She was also preceded in death by her five sisters, Bertha Thomas, Louise Ursery, Ruth Bramley/Jones, Dorothy Suggs, and Myrean Blakley; and her seven brothers, Clarence Newsome, David Newsome, Wilbert Newsome, Edgar Nathaniel Newsome, Willie "Billy" Newsome, Curtis Newsome, Delmer Newsome, and Oliver "Big O" Newsome.

Mother Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sherrill Bramley of Redford Township, Michigan; her sons, Mitchell Bramley Jr. of South Bend and William Bramley of Redford Township, Michigan; her grandchildren, Matthew Bramley, Troy Jones, and Lanaya Rollins; her great-grandchildren, Troyvair Jones, Troy'Juan Jones, Khailne Jones, and Matthew's grandchildren; as well as her sister, Martha Webb, and brother, Noland Newsome.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 W. Franklin Street, Elkhart, IN 46516, followed by a 5-minute Reflection from Family and Friends. The graveside service will follow immediately thereafter at Rice Cemetery, 400 James Street, Elkhart, IN 46516. This will be the final resting place of Mother Shirley Ann Newsome Bramley and Clarence "Lay Lay" Bramley.
