Stephen L. Estes, 74, of South Bend, formerly of Elkhart, died peacefully at his home on Friday, September 18, 2020 surrounded by his 3 children.

He was born June 3, 1946 in Elkhart to the late Richard W. and Delores M. (Replogle) Estes Sr.  Stephen was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard W. Estes Jr. and a son-in-law, Kevin Carey.

He is survived by three children: Andrea (John) Ham of Cleveland, OH, Thomas (Lisa) Estes of Elkhart and Angela Carey of Cleveland.  Also surviving are four grandchildren; Amber, Julia, Bethani and John Jr. as well as two great grandchildren; Lea and Jay.

After graduating from high school, Stephen enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served for six years.  He was employed as a tool and die maker, most recently working for Champion Tool and Engineering in Mishawaka. Stephen was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Elkhart.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and woodworking in his spare time.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
