Thomas E. Young, 84, of Elkhart, passed away at East Lake Terrace in Elkhart on Sunday, February 18, 2018.
He was born April 11, 1933 in Elkhart to the late William E. and Maude (Shafer) Young. Also preceding him in death were a grandson, Dustin Young and a brother, William L. Young.
On February 7, 1953, Tom married the former Marilyn Hoffman in Elkhart. She survives along with two daughters; Diane R. (Chris Friend) Young and Deb L. (Jeff) Warner, both of Elkhart and a son, Dave E. (Angie) Young, also of Elkhart. Also surviving are five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Tom worked for Midwest Commerce Bank for sixteen years in the mortgage loan department. He then worked in sales and management at C. O. Tools for several years. Tom attended and graduated from St. Vincent Elementary School in Elkhart. He also graduated from Elkhart High School in 1951. He and Marilyn were longtime members of St. Mary's of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol. He was also a member of the Elk's Lodge #425 in Elkhart. He was a loving and devoted husband for 65 years and more recently, caretaker for his high school sweetheart, Marilyn.
Visitation for Tom will be on Friday, February 23rd from 2 until 4 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations in memory of Tom may be made to Harbor Light Hospice or the Alzheimers Association.
