Trent Thomas McDowell, 53, of Howe, Indiana, formerly of Elkhart, died April 20, 2020 in Howe. Trent was born January 13, 1967 in Elkhart to Trudy (Duthie) and the late Thomas McDowell. On December 4, 1999 he married his true love, Shannon Metz.

Besides his father, he is preceded in death by a sister, Tonda McDowell Obregon; a niece, Miranda Obregon; and father-in-law, Mike Trapp.

Left to cherish Trent are his mother, Trudy McDowell; wife, Shannon McDowell; daughters, Abigail McDowell of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sarah Hoke, and Elizabeth Ginter; four grandchildren, Garrett, Lauralye, Charlotte, and Odysseus; a sister, Terrie (Robert) Williamson; mother-in-law, Deborah Trapp; brother-in-laws, John (Nicole) Metz and Zachary Trapp; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and his best friend, Sarge, his German Shepherd.

Trent graduated from Concord High School in 1986. He was an employee at Niblock Excavating for 25 years where he formed many life-long friendships. Trent was the all-American outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and trapping. Though many miles separated them, he enjoyed calling his daughter in Iowa frequently. Trent enjoyed his time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
