Wilmer R. Miller, son of Katie S. Otto and Roman D. Miller, 87, of Elkhart went home to meet his Lord on January 16, 2017 at the Center for Hospice Care.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Anna (Schrock) Miller, sons, Doug Miller (Linda) of Elkhart and Jeff Miller (Terri) of Atwater, California; grandchildren, Tiffany Bowman, Indianapolis, IN; Celeste' Westfield, Philadelphia, PA; Alicia Miller, Washington, DC; Jordan Miller, Whitestown, IN; and Jeffery Miller, Jr., Atwater, California. Wilmer also has five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters and survived by six sisters.

He was born in central Illinois and moved to Michiana in 1961 where he raised his family and built his career. Wilmer was a pioneer in affordable housing in the Michiana community and spent his career in that endeavor in service to others. His joy was his wife, his family, and his grandchildren and invested himself in their lives. He also enjoyed politics, country music, and golf.

Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 pm on Monday, January 23rd at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman in Elkhart, service to follow at 12 pm at the funeral home.
