Aileen M. (Young) Patterson

Aileen M. “Amy” Patterson, 94, of Elkhart, died on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Esther’s House, Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart.

Amy was born March 23, 1930, in Cleveland, OH to the late Howard C. and Anne M. (Price) Young.

As Amy Young, she married William E. Patterson on August 28, 1949, in Elkhart.  William died December 14, 2003.  Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Laurie Ann Patterson and a brother, who died at a young age.

Amy graduated high school in Arlington, VA and attended Indiana University, Bloomington for two years.  She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church and Elcona Country Club in Elkhart and a member of the Tri-Kappa Sorority in Elkhart and Tri Delta Sorority in Bloomington.

She is survived by two sons, James E. Patterson (Cynthia Amos) of Elkhart and Lee E. Patterson of Bristol; four grandchildren: Melissa (John) Heinrichs of Phoenix, AZ, James (Laci) Patterson of Elkhart, Thomas Patterson of Elkhart and Dr. Erika (Chris) Toy of Mt. Pleasant, SC and four great grandchildren with twins due any day.

Private family graveside services will be held.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hubbard Hill for the 20 plus years of wonderful care they provided for Amy.  They would also like to thank Elkhart General Hospital as well as the Center for Hospice Care for their care as well.
