Bernadette M. (Hunt) Bouwman

Bernadette M. Bouwman, 90, of Peachtree City, GA, formerly of Elkhart, died on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Legacy Ridge Assisted Living in Peachtree City.

She was born January 14, 1934, in Cadillac, MI to the late Everett and Mamie (Miller) Hunt. She was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Bouwman and a brother, Donald Hunt.

Bernadette married Dale Bouwman on October 13, 1951, in Holland, MI.  Dale died July 6, 2006.  She is survived by a son, Kevin (Geri) Bouwman of Elkhart, IN and a daughter, Debbie Godfrey of Tyrone, GA; one grandson, Trinity (Shawna) Godfrey and a great granddaughter, Kennedy.

Bernadette came to Elkhart in June of 1966.  She worked as the parts manager and in appliance repair at Sears for 29 years, retiring on July 21, 1990.  She was also a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge #599.

There will no visitation or services.  Cremation has taken place and Bernadette will be laid to rest next to Dale at Prairie Street Cemetery.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
