Betty Lou Nusbaum, 82, of Elkhart, died on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital.
Betty Lou was born on January 31, 1941, in Washington, IN to the late Clement A. and Daisy M. (Wratten) Wininger. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Craig Kilmer and Shawn Kilmer, a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Dave Melvin and a husband, Fredrick Nusbaum.
She is survived by four grandchildren; Anastasia (Bert Walker) Kilmer, Catherine (Michael) Brohman, Kelsey Kilmer and Alexander Kilmer: three great grandchildren; Zackary Brohman, Vincent Walker and Simon Walker and one brother, Jim (Donna) Wininger and a former spouse, Gary (Deborah) Kilmer.
Betty had been employed by Hillcrest United Methodist Church in their childcare program. Prior to that, she was a member of Liberty Community Church where she was very active in their childcare program. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading mystery novels, with Agatha Christie being among her favorite authors. She also fed any animal that came to her door.
Visitation for Betty Lou will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 12 pm until 2 pm at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Zion Cemetery in Bristol at 2:30 pm.
