Beverly Walters, 88, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 at Hubbard Hill Estates, Elkhart.
She was born in Chicago, Il on Aug. 27, 1932 to Cyrus and Pauline Cook. On Sept. 9, 1950 she married D. Roger Walters, who preceded her in death in April 2012.
She is survived by her children, Vickie (Rolla) Sievers of Middlebury, IN and Tim (Cheryl) Walters of Queen Creek, AZ, grandchildren Regan (Kevin) Beasley, Jana (Scott) Mount, Mitchell (Janine) Sievers, Paige (Tyler) Gaston, Ryan Walters and Drew Walters, great-grandchildren, Makena, Natalie and Camille Mount and Damon and Louis Sievers. She is preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Penrod and her daughter, Pamela Sproatt and son-in-law James Sproatt.
Beverly graduated from Elkhart High School in 1950 and remained friends with many of her classmates. She retired from Federal Paperboard in the Human Resource Department, also working at various other offices over her working career. Beverly will be remembered dearly by her immediate family members and many nieces and nephews as a woman with great strength, a kind heart, and enormous pride and love for her family. A good family dinner was one of the many things she treasured. She encountered many health issues over the years and fought thru them head on, never giving up. In 2016 she became a resident of Hubbard Hill and immediately made dear friends with the residents and staff. Always enjoying a good laugh and good game of Euchre or Rumikube.
The family would like to thank the staff for the love and kind care they provided for her. Due to the Covid situation and the protection of her friends and family, there will be a family burial later in the spring of 2021. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
