Carol J. Conley

Carol J. Conley, 92, of Mishawaka, IN passed away the morning of Friday, April 18, 2025 in Goshen, IN.

Carol was born on August 4, 1932 in Elkhart, IN to the late Theodore “Ted” and Louise Mattes.

On August 23, 1980, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Conley. They spent 24 wonderful years together until his passing in 2004.

Carol was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Kathleen Conley, and cousins Walter Deuel, Millicent (Karl) Stutsman, Patricia (Lee) Hall, and Mary Lou (Robert) Banker.

She is survived by her stepson, Michael (Helen) Conley; step-grandchildren, Monica (Eric) Newman, Malcolm Conley, and Madeline Conley; many step-great-grandchildren; and several cousins including Mary (David) Swihart, Marcia (Ed) Johnstone, and Gary Long.

Carol attended Elkhart High School and graduated with her Class of 1950. She worked at Days Transfer, United Fund of Elkhart County, and Skyline Corporation.  She retired from Skyline in 1989 and will always be remembered for her dedication and dependability to the company. She worked at several non-profit organizations and loved to volunteer. She was a wonderful wife, stepmother, cousin, and friend, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, June 30, 2025 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 W Franklin St, Elkhart, IN 46516 with visitation one hour before the service. A graveside service will follow at Rice Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
