Clarence Bramley Obituary

On February 12, 1961, in Elkhart Indiana, Shirley Newsome Bramley and the Mitchell Bramley Sr., welcomed their third son, Clarence Latham Bramley into the world. At home he was greeted by the love of his older brothers Mitchell Jr. and Williams and his sister Sherrill. Clarence was known affectionally as “Lay Lay”. Clarence life unfolded on Pearl Street in Elkhart, where his spirited nature left a lasting mark.

As a child Lay Lay was mischievous, full of energy and heart. One story that will forever live on as his legacy to remember is, “His brown Bag” a small but thoughtful gesture of potatoes, onions, eggs and steak with him neighbor doorstep in early morning. “A breakfast surprise” that spoke of his generous soul.

Lay Lay was a huge sports fan, but his true love was Notre Dame!  He also enjoyed people and helping others.  If you needed help, Lay Lay was always happy to help.

Lay Lay’s legacy lives on through his two beloved children, his son Troy Jones and daughter Lanaya Rollin, they were the light of his life. Though his journey was far too short, the love and memories he gave endure, a beacon for all who knew him, his absence leaves a void that words can never fulfill, but his legacy of kindness, mischief, and love lives on in those who carry his memory.

Memories of Lay Lay, will be cherished by his, Mother Shirley Newsome Bramley, Companion for sixteen years Priscilla Parish, his son Troy Jones of Atlanta Georgia and daughter Lanya Rollin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, his brothers Mitchell Bramley Jr. of South Bend, Indiana, William Bramley of Detroit Michigan; Sisters Sherrell Bramley of Detroit, Michigan; Monique Bramley of El Dorado, Arkansas; and Latrice Bramley-Caples of Elkhart Indiana. And his loving grandchildren Troyvair Jones, Troy’Juan Jones and Khailne Jones.

Clarence was preceded in death by his Father Mitchell Bramley Sr. his Paternal Grandparents Frank and Tinnie Yancey Bramley and Maternal grandparents Edgar and Jessie Mae Browder Newsome

The numbers of lives that Lay Lay touched have forever been changed. Although he has departed from life, he has left a host of others, such as uncle, aunt, cousins, friends who will smile, laugh, or share a memory, whenever they think about Lay-Lay.

Although Clarence has departed from this life, his memory will live on, through those who love, respect, and miss him dearly.
