Curtis Jones Obituary

Curtis M. Jones, 50 years old of Bristol, passed on of natural causes on Tuesday October 5, 2021. He was born in Elkhart on February 21, 1971. He graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1989. He continued his education at the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver for two years.

He resided in Kansas City, MO prior to returning to Elkhart in 1999. He met the love of his life Megan Havens a graduate of Purdue University and they were married on July 10, 2004. She is the art teacher for the WaNee school system and is located in Nappanee.

Curtis served as a hardware store manager, was customer service at NIBCO, and most currently employed as maintenance manger at Millers Merry Manor in Wakarusa.

In addition to his wife Megan, he is survived by his children: Casey D. Jones of Kansas City, MO, a Sgt in the US Marine Corps, Cohen Jones a Junior at Elkhart High School and Stella Jones at Northside Middle School. He is also survived by brothers: David (Theresa) Champaigne of Leonardtown, MD and Jason Champaigne of Elkhart. His parents Carol and James Champaigne of Elkhart. Also surviving are Megans mother Barb Havens and Joe Schultz, brothers, Josh (Angie) and Caleb and numerous nephews and nieces. Curtis is preceded in death by his natural father, E. Dale Jones.

He was an avid hunter along with his cousin Jon Tully and enjoyed fishing with his sons. His extremely good sense of humor brought smiles to everyone he met. He could make fun of us, and we loved it. His smile was infectious and would bring healing to any friend’s despair.

Curts specialty was problem solving. People would describe a problem to him, but he would describe and provide a simple solution to them. We always said, “If Curt can’t fix it, you don’t need it.” Pets were a big part of the Jones family, adding about one per year. His love for life was evident in all of his relations. He took the instruction to love his neighbor literally.

A visitation for Curtis will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 from 1pm to 5pm followed by a service at 5pm at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 West Franklin Street, Elkhart, Indiana 46516.
