Dale T. Kern

Dale T. Kern of Elkhart, died at the age of 87 on Friday, October 7, 2022.

Dale was born December 19, 1934, in Northampton, PA and was the only child of the late Russell and Miriam (Thomas) Kern.

On March 27, 1960, Dale married Patricia Sullivan in Stroudsburg, PA.  Pat proceeded Dale in death on May 10, 2003.

Surviving are three sons: Tom (Jeanne) Kern of Elkhart, Tim (Dawn) Kern of Elk Grove, CA and Terry (Michelle) Kern of Reed Point, MT. Dale had seven grandchildren: Kylie (Jarrett) Schottmuller, Aimee (Daniel) Kirby, Madelaine, Alyssa, Tyler, Alix, Sydney, and he was blessed with five great-grandchildren.

Dale worked many years for the railroad with Conrail, served as a Credit Manager for the former St. Joseph Valley Bank, then retired after working for Miles/Bayer.

Dale proudly served his country in the United States Air Force between 1953-197 during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Northern Africa and was honorably discharged after rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his years of service, Dale went to work for Saab Motors USA, where he met Patricia.

Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on vehicles since he was young and later shared his love for music, fine arts, and theater performances with his grandchildren. In retirement, Dale was a friend of Bill W, and volunteered his time with Hospice Services where he was awarded Volunteer of the Year.

Private graveside services will be held at Zion Cemetery in Bristol with assistance from Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care.
