DeEtta June Williamson

June Williamson died at home in Carmel, Indiana, on Monday, 12 May 2025.

June was born in Frontier County, Nebraska, on 25 June 1928. In 1940 her family moved to Cass County, Michigan, where she became lifelong friends with two wonderful sisters, Alice and Ann Williamson. In 1942 June’s family moved to Elkhart, Indiana, where she graduated from Elkhart High School in 1946.

June married Gene Williamson in 1948 at Augustana Lutheran Church where they were active members for nearly seventy years.

June started working as a switchboard operator in high school; after high school, she worked at Miles. Later June worked as a secretary at Augustana and then as a bookkeeper for Ziesel's and for Elkhart Products.

June had always sewn clothing for her family; in later years, she became an avid quilter. After their children were grown, June and Gene enjoyed traveling around the USA and to Japan and Europe, visiting both far-flung family members and many national parks.

After they both retired, June and Gene lived happily at Hubbard Hill Village for 17 years. After Gene passed away, June moved to Independence Village in Carmel in 2021 to be near children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

June was close to many family members over a lifetime of nearly 97 years, from her beloved siblings and cousins who were her childhood playmates, to her great-grandchildren who made her smile to the end of her days.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Art & Ethel Johnson; her in-laws, Ben & Ruba Williamson; her husband, Gene Williamson; and by her daughter & son-in-law, Donna & Jim Seybold.

June also was preceded in death by her siblings, Kenny, Gerry, Barb Lau, & Ronnie; by their spouses, Alice, Mary, Betty, Bob, & Lucy; by Gene’s sisters Alice Pabreza & Ann Harness; by Ann’s husband, Don; and by four nephews.

June is survived by her brother-in-law, George Pabreza; by her daughters and sons-in-law, Dee & Don Smith, and Linda Williamson & Ed Rockstein; by six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and multiple generations of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 11:00 AM with funeral to follow at 12 Noon on Monday, 26 May 2025 at Augustana Lutheran Church, 1133 Kilbourn St. in Elkhart.
