Dean Paul Nordman, 78, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Mishawaka, IN, died peacefully on March 10th, 2023 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. The family is deeply saddened by his death.
Dean was born on June 17, 1944 in Mishawaka. He graduated from Penn High School in 1962. He retired from Conrail, in Elkhart, IN, in 2004 after a 30+ year career.
Dean moved to Louisville, KY in 2005 where he was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dean served on several mission trips throughout his lifetime and was passionate about sailing on Lake Michigan and growing all types of roses. He was a member of the Louisville Rose Society.
Dean is survived by his wife of 32 years, Helen Ann (Prugh); two daughters Diane (Rodney) Jewell and Joni Chavez; two stepdaughters Amy Porter and Angela Youngman; three granddaughters; Molly Mize, Aubrey and Sarah Youngman, a grandson, Nathan Khondoker; and a great granddaughter, Valkyrie Mize. He is also survived by a sister Leelah Johnson, and a brother James Nordman.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Warren Nordman.
Funeral services for Dean will be held on Friday, March 17th, at 11 am at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, where visitation will be held beginning at 10 am. The Rev. Keith McFarren will officiate and entombment will be in Rice Cemetery.
