Deborah L. Slone

Deborah L. “Debi” Slone, 65, of Elkhart, died at home on Friday, September 6, 2024.

Debi was born August 20, 1959, in Virginia Beach, VA to Carol Highbaugh and was raised by Carol and Charles R. “Bob” Fay Jr.  She was preceded in death by Bob and a great grandson, Terry Smothers.

She is survived by her mother, Carol Highbaugh of Elkhart, a daughter, Shannon (Danny) Carlson and a son, Shawn (Michelle) Smothers, both of Elkhart; two brothers, Kenny Highbaugh of Elkhart and Tuck Highbaugh of Jones, MI; three sisters, April Marquez and Tina Schroeder, both of Elkhart and Teresa (Wayne) Smith and her significant other, Jay Biltz of Elkhart.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Debi was employed as a production worker for Jet Tech prior to becoming ill.  She loved animals, going to the zoo and camping, especially with her grand babies.  She also enjoyed attending craft shows with her mother and helping her to sell her crafts.

Visitation for Debi will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 10 am until the hour of the service at noon at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  The Rev. Keith McFarren will officiate and burial will be at Prairie Street Cemetery.
