Dorothy (Embry) Wood

Dorothy Wood, 91, of Elkhart, died on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Valley View Health Care Center in Elkhart.

Dorothy was born on September 10, 1929 in Elkhart to the late Claudis and Gertrude (Lee) Embry.  She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Embry.

On June 22, 1952 she married Robert E. Wood, the love her life.  Woody died November 9, 2004.  Surviving are three children: Mike Wood of Oklahoma and Linda (Steve) Fields of Oklahoma and Mark (Leslie) Wood of Indiana; grandchildren Ashley (Shane) Malone, Amanda Wood and Mitchell Crothers as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren in Oklahoma.  Also surviving is a sister, Betty Jean Brooks.

Dorothy worked at Vogue Beauty College for thirty years.  Prior to that she had worked at Ziesel’s in downtown Elkhart.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, doing word search puzzles and reading but, she really enjoyed cooking big meals for all of her family.

Visitation for Dorothy will be on Saturday, July 31st from 4 until 7 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  There will be no funeral service.  Dorothy will be cremated and placed next to her husband at Rice Cemetery at a later date.
