Douglas Davis Obituary

Douglas D. Davis, 57, formerly of Elkhart, passed away on September 13th in Sarasota, Florida.

Doug was born on September 9, 1967, in Kansas City, MO to Dean F. and Phyllis (Abbott) Davis.  He was proceeded in death by his father.  He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Davis of South Bend and Sarasota, his sisters, Kelly Wilson of South Bend, Indiana and Beth Olson of Indianapolis, Indiana, and nephews and niece, Alex Wilson of Reston, Virginia, Brooke Wisler of Mishawaka, Indiana and Davis and Russell Olson of Indianapolis.

Doug attended Elkhart Central High School and later moved to Orange County, California where he lived most of his adventurous life, as an entrepreneur. He loved water skiing at Birch Lake, snow skiing, animals, car racing, motorcycles and the beach.

When Doug was present, there was always laughter, surprises and fun to be had. His dry wit made light of any situation, and his friendly disposition made everyone feel like he was a friend, even if they just met him.

A celebration of life with Doug’s biggest fans will be held on September 28th, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Friends are encouraged to come and bring their funny stories to share. We know there are many of them.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Joy’s House, an organization which Doug thought very highly of and is close to our family’s hearts. Joy’s House 2028 Broad Ripple Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana 46220 or at www.joyshouse.org.
