Frances Teeter, 90, long-time resident of the Elkhart and Union, MI area, died May 16, 2019, in Grand Blanc, MI.
Frances Jean VanScoik was born to Berlin and Laura Fay (Hiatt) VanScoik on April 10, 1929, in Rochester, IN. She graduated as salutatorian of her class from Edwardsburg High School in 1947. She was employed at CTS Corp. in Elkhart for forty-five years.
Frances played trombone in the high school band. Along with her children, she played in Gray’s Community Band in Three Rivers. After retiring she played in the New Horizons Band of Elkhart. She was a founding member and served as an elder of Adamsville Rd. Church of God. She was an avid crocheter of baby blankets for many newborns.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Welcome Teeter; her parents, Berlin and Fay VanScoik; brothers, Marvin, Paul, and Robert VanScoik.
She is survived by her children, Marlene Sarle (Stephen) of Kalamazoo, MI; Larry Culp (Margo) of Grand Blanc, MI; and David Culp (Cindy) of Jupiter, FL; sisters Carol Blumenberg (Rick) of Bridgman, MI and Delores Pekar, (Edward) of Houston, TX; two sisters-in-law, Betty VanScoik of Warsaw, IN, and Wanetta VanScoik of Three Rivers, MI; six grand-children, seven great grand-children, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Visitation will also be at the Adamsville Rd. Church of God on Wednesday, May 22, from 10 to 11a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
