Georgene Adell Nelson, 90, of Elkhart, died at 11:20 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 at Eastlake Terrace. Georgene was born October 25, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Arbin J. and Agnes E. (Vincent) Stieglitz. She married Earl L. "Bud" Nelson on May 1, 1948 in Milwaukee. He died October 6, 1996. Georgene was a 1941 graduate of Rufus King High School, 1946 graduate of North Central College, Naperville, Illinois, a graduate of Milwaukee Business Institute and University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She was a homemaker. Georgene was an active member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she served as Memorial Chairman and Sunday school teacher. Georgene was also a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Book Guild, Elkhart General Hospital Auxiliary, Christiana Creek Country Club, and a former member of Elcona Country Club. She also served as secretary of the Family Council Board and was past board of directors of the Midwest Museum of Art. Georgene is survived by daughter, Amanda "Amy" (Dan) Garl of Constantine, MI; son, Randall J. (Heide) Nelson of Germantown, TN; granddaughter, Beverly C. Nelson; grandson, Christopher L. Nelson; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, June Polzin and Virginia McCarthy. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the 1 p.m. service Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Augustana Lutheran Church.
