James Alfred Hamlin, 82, of Elkhart died Sunday, June 28, 2020 at his home. James was born in Battle Creek, MI, November 4, 1937 to the late Alfred and Mildred (Haymond) Hamlin.
James was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. After his time enlisted, he married Karen A. Grout on June 11, 1966. She preceded him in death on April 6, 1996.
Left to cherish James’ memory are his daughters; Lisa (Monte) Hawkins of Elkhart and Stephanie DeJong of Elkhart; his sister, Joyce Barravachia of Cleveland, his twin sister, Alice Falk of Coldwater, MI; five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
James was employed as the controller at Continental Can (Federal Paperboard). He also worked for many years in the RV industry as a controller with several companies.
James was a gardener, particularly fond of his flowers. He enjoyed playing cards and camping. James was a member and volunteer at Calvary Assembly of God.
Visitation for James will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 from 5PM-7PM at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will take place at Rice Cemetery on July 2. Pastor Brian Whidden will be officiating.
