James C. Steely, 90 of 308 South West Blvd. Elkhart, Indiana died at 4:05 A.M. Friday March 17, 2006 at Fountainview Place in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was born October 29, 1915 in South Bend, Indiana to Charles C. and Frances Hans Steely. He married Teddy Mary Ellen Hall October 31, 1947 in Elkhart; she died September 3, 2001. Surviving is one daughter Barbara E. Steely of Elkhart. One sister Mary Beck preceded in death. National Mill Supply employed Mr. Steely for over 25 years as a plumbing and heating salesman, he was employed for eight years by the city of Elkhart in the Building department as a plumbing inspector. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, life member of the Elks #425, veteran of U. S. Army during World War II and received the Key to the City of Elkhart from Mayor Peter Sarantos. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday at Rice Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Elkhart County Humane Society.
