Jean Friedman, 93, formerly of Elkhart, IN died on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Belmont village in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
Jean was born on November 21, 1921in Elkhart, IN. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Fanny Raab, her sister Marjorie Rapport and her twin sisters Rachel Feldstein and Nancy Lattin.
On April 16, 1942 she married Sidney Friedman in Elkhart, IN. He died on January 8, 1998. Surviving is a daughter, Fay (Dennis) Flanzer of Rolling Hills Estates, CA; a son, Steven H. Friedman of San Francisco, CA; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Ricardo) Lemvo and two great granddaughters, Isabela and Zola Lemvo of Glendale, CA and a brother, Jacob "Bud" (Lillian) Raab of Granger, IN.
Jean, Sidney and Bud were the co owners of Dave's Drive Inn Cassopolis St. in Elkhart for 24 years prior to closing the restaurant in 1970. She was also a former member of the Temple Israel and its sisterhood for over 50 years in Elkhart and the Sinai Synagogue in South Bend. She was also a member of the DAV Auxiliary for over 10 years.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery in Mishawaka with Rabbi Michael Friedland officiating.
