John W. Herrmann Jr., 79, of Elkhart, died at his home on Thursday, May 12, 2022.

John was born September 3, 1942 in Louisville, KY to the late John W. and Doris (Baker) Herrmann Sr.

John was self-employed as a real estate appraiser for many years. He was a former member and past president of the Elkhart Noon Optimist Club as well as a former member of the Elkhart Elk’s Lodge. John was active with vocational building trades, enjoyed playing golf and was a die-hard University of Kentucky fan. He also loved woodworking and being outside, tending to his yard. His grandchildren and great grandchildren gave him the most joy.

Surviving are his daughter, Laura (Todd) Ezzell and a son, Chris (Angela Jones) Herrmann, both of Elkhart; three grandchildren: Meghann (Brad) Nowak of Queen Creek, AZ, Matthew Ezzell of Granger and Michael Ezzell of Providence, RI; two great grandsons: Harrison and Charlie Nowak; a sister, Margaret “Peggy” (Daniel) Crum of Maysville, KY and three nephews: Jonathan (Teresa) Crum, Christian Crum and Nicholas (Katie) Crum.

There will be no services or visitation at this time. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
