John Putman, 69, of Elkhart, Ind. Passed away March 30, 2011 at Hospice House in Elkhart, Ind. He was born on Aug. 31, 1941 to Marlow and Margaret Putman in Missouri. On Dec. 27, 1996 John married Sherrie Merritt in Las Vegas, NV. Sherrie survives along with two sons Lee Sheri Putman of Noblesville, Ind. Steven Putman of Elkhart, Ind. and Step-son David Holdren of Chicago, Ill. Also surviving are grandchildren Natalie, Rachael, Jake, Jennifer, and Stevie Putman; step-grandchildren Devynn, Saxton and Hailey; and one brother James Lynn Putman of Ladue, MO. John worked in the RV industry most of his life, sales and marketing for Phoenix RV, Executive Director for Patrick Industries, and United Shade and owner of Allure window fashions. He was a past member of Maple Crest Country Club, past president of Marion Jaycees, also a past representative of young republican's state convention. He received and Addie award for excellence in advertising. John was a loving father, grandfather, and husband. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing golf with family & friends, and fishing with his grandson Jake. John possessed a deep and abiding faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and enjoyed reading the bible. He and his wife attended First Baptist Church in Elkhart when his health permitted. The Family wishes to thank Mayo Clinic I Rochester MN; Goshen Cancer Center, Dr. Pennington and staff, Elkhart General Hospital Oncology dept; doctors Dr. Hague and Dr. Jin and there staff for the care given to John and his wife. Elkhart Hospice House for the wonderful nurses and assistants for their wonderful care to the family and John. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral home and family member Pastor Dennis Carroll for their care given to the family in his passing. A funeral service will be at 3 pm April 11, 2011 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home with visitation starting at 2 pm. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society or Hospice House of Elkhart.
