Obituary

Jonathan Paul Borger, 73, of Elkhart died unexpectedly at home on Monday, March 2, 2015. Jon was born May 31, 1941 in Elkhart to the late Carroll and Mary (Francisco) Borger. He is survived by two sons: Ryan Borger of Roswell, GA and Blake (Tracy) Borger of Granger; two grandchildren; Jarred and Madison; five sisters: Laurie (Ross) Erickson of Redwood City, CA, Lisa (Jeff) Weir and Annie Borger, both of Amhurst, OH; Maryjane Myers of Three Rivers, MI, Judy (Bob) Herrold of Elkhart and two brothers; Tom Borger of Three Rivers, MI and Tim (Joyce) Borger of Granger and his longtime companion, Kathy Peterson of Elkhart. Jon was a graduate of Three Rivers High School where he played on the varsity baseball team. A veteran of the United States Army, he also played on the baseball team. For over twenty years, Jon was a fixture on the fast-pitch softball diamonds in and around Elkhart, playing for Swathwood, Gonderman Coin and Burcliff Industries. An avid golfer, Jon's biggest joy was watching his grandchildren. Jon spent his professional career in the R.V. / Mobile Home industry. He had been employed for many years by Trade Names and Hi-Tech Housing in the purchasing department. Most recently, he was employed by Patrick Industries in shipping and receiving. Friends and family may call on Friday, March 6th from 4 to 8 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home 403 W. Franklin St. Elkhart. Funeral services for Jon will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 10 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, 831 W. Marion St. Elkhart. The Reverend Dan Forehand will officiate and burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
