Joyce A. (Honorable) Sanders

Joyce A. Sanders, 60, of Elkhart, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

Joyce was born April 20, 1960 in Beulah, MS to the late Theauther and Earline (Davis) Honorable.  She was also preceded in death by one brother, Larry Honorable and one grandson, Kavion Sanders.

As Joyce Honorable, she married Edgar Sanders on November 27, 1986 in Elkhart.  He survives along with a daughter, Joyetta Sanders and a son, Ed (Anita) Sanders both of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Jayda Andrews, TreShaun Sanders, Tyrique Sanders, Brooklyn Dooley, Jorianna Dooley, and Kenzell Dooley; and one great grandchild, Ana’layah Sinclair;; two sisters: Delores Cassell and Anita (Keith) Ellington both of Elkhart and six brothers: Richard Honorable of Chicago, TL (Shirley) Honorable of Elkhart, Jerry (Irene) Honorable and Robert (Dorothy) Honorable, both of Goshen, Melvin (Millicent) Honorable and Otis (Ruthie) Honorable, both of Elkhart.

Joyce was an active member of Unity Church of God in Christ in Elkhart where she served as a Junior Church Mother and was involved with youth ministry.  She was also known as the “District Sunshine Band Lady”.  She enjoyed cooking, barbequing and shopping but her one true love was spending time with her grandchildren.

Visitation for Joyce will be held on Friday, September 4 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at 11:00 a.m. all at Greater Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Elkhart.  Pastor William C. Hackworth will officiate and burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
