Karen S. Hager, 83, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away the morning of Thursday, February 13, 2025 in her home.
Karen was born on May 3, 1941 in Elkhart to the late Quinn and Anita (Barnes) DeVore. Karen went on to marry Roy L. Hager, and they remained married until his passing in 2003.
Karen was a creative woman who loved collecting, especially small glass shoes. She was a great host and enjoyed having family and friends over. She was also an avid reader, and was especially a fan of mystery novels.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as her son, Lawrence VanHuffel, and brothers Leslie DeVore and Ronald Devore.
Karen is survived by her children, Terry VanHuffel, James (Diane) VanHuffel, Sherri Bailent, and Mary (Dave) Stahly; as well as her sister, Jackie (Frank) Bolton, 8 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Karen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Per Karen’s request, no public services will be held. She will be laid to rest at Prairie Street Cemetery beside her beloved husband, Roy.
