Kenneth "Skip" C. Nelson

Kenneth C. “Skip” Nelson, 94, of Elkhart died on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Eastlake Terrace.

Skip was born November 13, 1925 in Elkhart to the late Carl V. and Bessie E. (Bowers) Nelson. On October 13, 1945 he married Ora B. Stair. She died March 14, 2013 after 67 years of marriage. Kenneth is also preceded in death by a sister, June L. Elliot.

Left to cherish Kenneth’s memory are his son, Kenneth A. Nelson and grandson, Justin N. Nelson.

Skip graduated Concord High School in 1943. After graduation he entered the Navy, serving during WWII. He attended Middlebury (VT) College, De Pauw University in Greencastle, IN and Duke University.  He worked in the US Postal Service as a letter carrier and a supervisor before retiring as a window clerk in 1988 after 39 years of service. He enjoyed his yard work, gardening and reading.

There will be no visitation or services. His cremains will be placed in the Hope Mausoleum at Rice Cemetery. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
