Obituary

Mary Maxcine (Wolf) Spicher, 94, of Elkhart passed away May 19, 2020 at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart. M. Maxcine was born February 11, 1926 in Wolcottville, Indiana to the late Russell and Opal (Denman) Wolf.

Maxcine married Russell A. Spicher on June 17, 1944. He passed away November 8, 1997. Robert Mehl and Maxcine took their vows August 16, 2000. He passed away June 16, 2016.

Surviving Maxcine are daughters, Penny (James) L. Delp and Ann M. Grillo, and sister, Doris Knepper, eight grandchildren, fourteen greatgrandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a son, Russell E. Spicher and brother, Russell J. Wolf.

Maxcine was a homemaker, worked at Miles Lab for five years and was a self-employed professional seamstress in Elkhart for 30 years. She was a resident at Simonton Lake for over 50 years. Some people have beautiful voices, give Maxcine a piece of fabric, a thread and needle, or a piece of yarn and her hands could sing. We wish to thank all the wonderful staff at Greenleaf Health Campus, Sara and Joey Kelgren, and Jean Hunt, who gave her love and friendship.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 at 2 PM at Prairie Street Cemetery. The Reverend Keith McFarren will officiate. In lieu of flower’s donations in Maxcine’s name can be made to Faith Mission of Elkhart, 801 Benham Ave. Elkhart, IN 46516.
