Marcella J. Lowell

Marcella “Marcie” J. Lowell, 101, of Elkhart, IN passed away the evening of Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

Marcie was born on March 5, 1924 in Jackson, MI to the late Rachael Stump and Helmer Hirth. On December 31, 1987, she was united in marriage to James Lowell.

Marcie was preceded in death by her husband, James, as well as two sons, Larry (Joanna) King and Jerry (Barbara) King, and a brother, Bud Hirth.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (James) Papa, and daughter-in-law, Debbie (Jerry) Russell; grandchildren Gina (Jim) Papa, Christy (John) Kinsey, Devon (Susan) Papa, Teha (Chris) Cobbler, Amber (Roger) Nobbe, Jeran (Amy) King, and Kristy (Chad) Key; as well as many great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild on the way.

Marcie had many hobbies and interests. She was a great card player and loved fishing. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, reading, crocheting, and crafting. She had a passion for music, and above all, she was an avid bird watcher.

Marcie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service for Marcie will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 West Franklin Street, Elkhart, IN 46516, with visitation for one hour prior. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens alongside her husband and late son, Larry.
