Maria F. Solow

Maria F. Solow, 87, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away the morning of Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Maria was born on January 29, 1938 in Arroyo, Puerto Rico to the late Ezequiel Cordero and Carmene Teissioner. She grew up in Puerto Rico before moving to New Jersey.

On October 24, 1965 she was united in marriage to David Solow. Together, they moved to Elkhart, where they’ve lived for the past 40 years. They spent 60 wonderful years together.

Maria is survived by her husband David as well as two children, Naryan Mar Solow Cordero and David Edward Solow Cordero, and grandchildren Timothy and Sami.

Maria always had a passion for travel. During her life she visited 6 continents and 50 countries, making sure to visit all the top museums in the world. She prioritized helping others and volunteered by giving tours at the Midwest Museum of American Art.

Maria also loved sports – especially golf. She learned to play when her mother-in-law moved to Indiana and continued playing regularly through her seventies. She was a member of the Ladies Golf League at Christiana Creek Country Club.

Maria was always convinced that she would pass away at 68 years old – the same age her mother and grandmother passed. She far exceeded that with 19 additional years of a joyous life.

Maria was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A private celebration of life will be held among family and friends in memory of Maria. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation.
