Marilyn Miller Obituary

Marilyn L. Miller, 93 years old, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away the morning of Monday, October 28, 2024. She was born on July 21, 1931 in Elkhart to the late Robert Q. Sloat and Grace M. Cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sisters, Betty J. Gilkey and Evelyn M. Miller.

Marilyn was united in marriage to James Miller, Jr. on her birthday, July 21, 1956 in Elkhart. After many wonderful years together, James passed away on April 5, 2004. Together, they had one son, Jay R. Miller who currently lives in Elkhart. Marilyn is survived by her sisters, June M. Bowers of Elkhart, Ruth A. Wagoner of Toledo, OH, and Sharon E. Hayes of Elkhart as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Marilyn worked as a factory assistant at CTS, where she was a Quarter Century Club member. After being employed with them for 43 years, she finally retired in 1993. Although Marilyn was a wonderful cook, she did enjoy eating out at her favorite restaurants. She always stated “let them do the dishes”. Marilyn didn’t travel much but did enjoy her trips to Mall of America and Hershey and Lancaster Co., PA.

Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, from 9:00am-10:00am at Hartzler Gutermuth Inman Funeral Home, 403 W Franklin Street, Elkhart, Indiana. Marilyn will then be laid to rest at Rice Cemetery, alongside her beloved husband James. Marilyn’s family would like to thank Greenleaf Health Campus for their generous love and care.
