Marilyn A. Williams, 90, of Elkhart, died, August 5, 2021 at her daughters home in Cassopolis, Michigan.
Marilyn was born October 11, 1930 in Elkhart, to the late Ellsworth Dewitt and Gertrude Clara (Eash) Wilbur. She married James E. Williams on December 20, 1952 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband James in 1999, two brothers: Dean Wilbur and Leland Wilbr, sister: Carolyn Jean Reed and a son- in-law, John Calvert.
She is survived by her three daughters: Pamela Gentle of Elkhart; Sheryl (Paul) File of Cassopolis, MI and Rachelle Williams of Elkhart; a son: James (Janie) Williams of Elkhart. Marilyn is survived by her five grandchild and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Marilyn graduated from Elkhart High School in 1948. After high school she attended Elkhart Business University and graduated in 1949. For many years she has been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart. After college she started work at Whitehall Laboratories as a secretary where she worked for a total of 11 years. In 1972 she began her work as a secretary at Trinity United Methodist Church where she retired after 20 years of service. Marilyn was very active in her church and her community. She was part of the United Methodist Women Board and was a mentor to many children at Hawthorne Elementary School. Most of all she loved being with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
A visitation for Marilyn will be held Monday, August 16, 2021 from 10am-12pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart, followed by a memorial service at 12pm. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be directed to Trinity on Jackson Church, 2715 East Jackson Blvd. Elkhart, Indiana 46516.
