Marjorie Joann (Williams) Frederick

Joann Frederick, 89, of Whitestown, formerly of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at her residence.

She was born in Bluford, Illinois on February 2, 1932, daughter of the late Sumner Williams and Marjorie (Ewald) Williams.

After graduating from high school in Kankakee, Illinois, Joann received a Nursing Certificate from the Julia F. Burnham School of nursing in 1953.

She was married to George Frederick of Elkhart, Indiana in 1956. George passed away in 1998.

In Elkhart Joann worked as a staff nurse at the Child Health Society and the Elkhart County Health Department. She retired in 1994.

Joann enjoyed spending time with her family and friends including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had many volunteer roles such as a 4-H Leader and in various programs at Central Christian Church. She was also a big Purdue fan.

She is survived by a sister, Phyllis (Stanley) Rolfe of Lawrence, Kansas; two daughters: Carol Scott of Davidson, Michigan; Nancy (Brent) Stutzman of Brownsburg, Indiana; two sons: Tom (Mary) Frederick of Corvallis, Oregon; Jim (Nancy) Frederick of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Seven grandchildren: Bradley Scott, Brent Scott, Ryan Frederick, Drew Stutzman, Adam Stutzman, Ethan Frederick and Aaron Frederick. Joann is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

A private family service will take place Friday, August 20, 2021 and she will be laid to rest in Rice Cemetery. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be directed to Central Christian Church, 418 West Franklin Street, Elkhart, Indiana 46516.
