Nancy Ann (Mass) Catanzarite

Nancy A. Catanzarite, 81, of Elkhart, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

Nancy was born March 31, 1940 in Elkhart to the late Oscar Hans and Catherine (Kambach) Mass.  On September 3, 2000, Nancy married Rosario “Roy” Catanzarite, who survives.

Roy and Nancy raised seven sons between them:  Scott (Julie) Nusbaum of Hamilton, IN, Tony (Denise) Catanzarite of Edwardsburg, MI, Michael Catanzarite of Mishawaka, the late Dominick (Lori) Romeo of Phoenix, AZ, Frank Romeo of Braselton, GA, Rick Romeo and Rodney Romeo, both of South Bend, IN. In addition to these, Nancy is also survived by her sister; Esther Hampel of Bristol, IN, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Nancy graduated from Elkhart High School in 1958.  She retired as a secretary in 2005 from Notre Dame Law School. Nancy was a member of the 4 Arts Club, Friendship Garden Club and the Divas Lunch Group.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart for over 60 years. Nancy loved to spend time with her family and friends and enjoyed creating new things with her hands including her wonderful cooking, cross-stitch, and painting. Nancy enjoyed dancing, fishing, and playing cards with her friends and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her precious little dog, Lola. When she wasn’t home, she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Roy.

Visitation for Nancy will be held on Saturday, April 24 at Trinity on Jackson Church in Elkhart from 12 pm to 2 p.m. with a celebration of life service to follow at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Karen Koelsch will officiate. A private family burial will be held at a later date.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
