Richard Lewis “Dick” Armstrong, 78, of Bristol, formerly of Elkhart, died on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
Dick was born on November 7, 1944, in Michigan City, IN to the late Thomas and Corine I. (Foster) Armstrong. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Thomas “Tim” Armstrong and John “Jack” Armstrong and a grandson, Johnny Estep.
On November 26, 1966, Dick married the former Linda Elaine Lange in LaPorte, IN. She survives along with three daughters: Karyn Armstrong Lail of Elkhart, Nancy Armstrong (Chris) Gunderson and Barbara Armstrong (Ben) Eble, both of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren: Alec Estep, Abbie Estep, Will, Jay and Kate Gunderson, Maggie Snow and Eleanor Eble and three great grandchildren.
Dick was a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington where he received his Bachelor of Science in finance. He was a proud member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. His career began with First National Bank in Elkhart. He went on to be the CFO of Homecrest Corporation. Prior to his retirement, Dick worked in investment services. He was also a member of Trinity on Jackson Church. Dick enjoyed giving back to his community through the Elkhart Community Foundation.
Earlier in life, Dick enjoyed running, swimming, boating, playing cards and fishing, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He was most calm and soothed by Michigan sunsets, the Florida Keys, college basketball, college football and a sweet treat before bed.
Visitation for Dick will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Trinity on Jackson Church, followed by a 1:00 pm memorial service. Cremation has taken place. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
