Robert Gregg Moore Sr.

Robert Gregg Moore Sr., 83, of Elkhart went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2021 at 11:25AM, due to complications from ALS with his family by his side.

Bob was born on April 12, 1937 to Gregg and Edith (Olinghouse) Moore in Elkhart. He attended Concord Schools and was Valedictorian of the class of 1955. Bob graduated with a business degree from Tri-State College in 1958 with honors. He proudly served our country in the US Army from 1958-1962. During his time in the army, he served on a small team that computerized the military payroll system.

Bob married Ann R. Martin, the love of his life, on November 8, 1958 in Marion, IN. They spent over 62 wonderful years together and were inseparable.

In 1966 Bob founded MORryde and served as president until he retired in 1985. His main passion and purpose with MORryde was to use the business to support missions outreach around the world. He served on numerous boards, including World Missionary Press, Word of Life Fellowship, Baugo Schools, First Nazarene Church, First Baptist Church of Elkhart, River Oaks Community Church, Bethel Brethren, Church, People to People, MORryde International, and Bank One.

Bob is survived by his wife Ann; his children, Robert (Gabriela) Moore Jr., Pamela (Mark) Schneider, Rodney (Monica) Moore; grandchildren, Nicholas (Mackenzie) Schneider, Joshua (Kristina) Moore, Stephanie (Troy) Jones, Alexandra (Luke) Snyder, Andrea (Nate) Fanning, Andre Moore and Austin (Samantha) Schneider; 14 great grandchildren; and sisters, Norma Johnson and Shirley (Gary) Devore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda Stender and Mary Moore and brother-in-laws, Merrill Johnson and Irv Stender.

Since retirement, Bob and Ann have enjoyed the past 35 years traveling and spending time in Sarasota, FL.  Bob never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went.  He will be missed by many.  Bob’s greatest desire was for everyone around him to know and love Jesus.  While we will surely miss him, we look forward to reuniting with him one day in Heaven.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at River Oaks Community Church 58020 C.R. 115 Goshen, IN.  Friends may also call one hour prior to services at noon on Friday, also at the church. Military honors will be rendered at the church.  The Rev. Scott Tilley will officiate and burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
