Roena Ann Windbigler

Roena Ann Windbigler, 86, of Elkhart, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Hellenic Senior Living of Elkhart.

Roena was born February 11, 1935 in Elkhart to the late Carl and Ruth (McFarland) Windbigler.

Roena is preceded in death by her parents, a son Steven Girten and four brothers: Ray Windbigler, Tim Windbigler, Vern Windbigler and Tom Windbigler. She is survived by her sons: Michael Girten of Elkhart, Charles (Donna) Girten, Jr. of Edwardsburg, MI and Joey Ray (Brenda) Girten of Elkhart. Roena is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Roena was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Elkhart. For many years Roena worked at NIBCO in Elkhart as an office secretary. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge #599 in Elkhart. Roena was a wonderful seamstress, she loved making quilts, blankets, clothing for her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending the day at the beach and loved being around the water. One of her favorite places was Weko Beach on Lake Michigan. Roena was also very active in her community, being part of the United Way- Make a Difference Day and making stuffed animals for CAPS, Roena also enjoyed dressing up as a clown for the children at the local hospitals.

A memorial service for Roena will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Elkhart at 11am with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Terri Peterson will be officiating. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
